MORNING STAR AVENUE AND THE RICHMOND [OCTOBER 2016]

Near here is the The Morning Star Hostel which opened in 1927 and it is one of the oldest hostels in the Dublin. Currently the hostel caters for homeless men who are 18 years old or more. At one stage used to house over 200 homeless men a night as homeless people in Dublin at the time could only stay for fifteen days in the other hostels that were available.

In my photographs is the building that was the Richmond Hospital. Back in 2013 the INMO [Nurses And Midwives Union] had plans to develop the former Richmond Hospital as an education and events centre, after acquiring the property for €2.9 million. I do not know what happened by the project appears to have stalled.
