LIMERICK 2015 | WILLIAM'S GUIDE TO THE CITY OF LIMERICK

Examples of urban expression and street art photographed in Limerick during my 2015 visit to the city. In general I have been somewhat by street art in Limerick even though there can be one or two excellent examples ... maybe I am visiting the wrong parts of the city.
URBAN EXPRESSION
The People’s Park boasts a number of interesting items including a memorial upon a giant pillar to Thomas Spring Rice, MP for the city of Limerick from 1820 - 1832, a 19th-century Bandstand, an ornate drinking fountain (one of only two on the island of Ireland) and two gazebos.

Modern facilities include a playground opened in 2001 and memorial garden to The Little Angels of Limerick opened in 2002.

St John’s Church of Ireland church stands on the site of an earlier church, which dated from the 1200s. The walls around the graveyard were built in 1693 and the present church was built between 1843 and 1852. The church fell into disuse in the early 1970s and was handed over to the Limerick Corporation in 1975. The church was designed by Irish architect Joseph Welland(6 May 1798 - 6 March 1860)
