I could see this from my hotel window which is nice as I really like this clock.

The Clock was erected in 1867 as a memorial to Sir Peter Tait who was mayor of Limerick from 1866 to 1868.

Taits Clock is located in Baker Place [Pery Street - Davis Street] across from the Dominican Church. According to most guides the architect of the clock was Charles Corbett. However the NIAH and the DIA claim that it was William Edward and not Charles Corbett who designed the clock.

Many claim that the clock does not keep accurate time and I have noticed some posts online claiming that the the area is not well maintained but I had no issues. However there was a lot of roadworks ongoing in the general area and someone started using a jackhammer at about 1am on my second last night [Thursday] and it was really annoying but the noise only lasted for about 30 minutes.

I usually stay at the George Boutique hotel when I visit Limerick but I could not get a room for my 2019 visit so I ended up booking a room at Pery's Hotel. Back then I was a little bit concerned when I made the booking but the hotel turned out to be much more suitable for me than the George - the room was huge [it actually had three single beds] and the location was excellent especially as it was close to a large selection of restaurants. On my last night there was a lot of noise because of a nightclub but the Shiloh Trust have converted the Baker Place nightclub into a bible hall named the Limerick City Church.

In 2021 Pery's was closed so I had to revert back to the George and enjoyed my stay. This year Pery's hotel reopened and I got a very good rate for four nights. The room was large as was the bed.

The Hotel proved to be an excellent base and I managed to photograph much more of the city that I had on previous visits. If the prices continue to b e reasonable I expect to continue using Pery's.
