DONORE AVENUE - FEBRUARY 2018

Even though it connects the South Circular to Cork Street, two areas that I visit at regular intervals, this was only my second time to visit Donore Avenue and there was a lot of urban depression to be seen especially towards the Cork Street end.

As part of the regeneration of the area the demolition of 14 apartment in St Teresa's Gardens began early last year, clearing the way for 50 new residential units comprising 16 apartments and 34 houses as well as an urban park. The 1950s blocks next to Coombe Women & Infants University Hospital have often been reported as being among the city’s most deprived areas, with high levels of crime and anti-social behaviour.
