PIKEMAN 2019 | MONUMENTS - MEMORIALS - STATUES

THE PIKEMAN Photographed In May 2019

FREEDOM'S DAWN ALSO KNOWN AS THE PIKEMAN BY JOHN TOOMEY [THE PLAQUE OUTSIDE THE COURTHOUSE IN MIDLETON - MAY 2019]

Note: In some posts I spelled the artist's name as 'Twomey' rather than 'Toomey'

Every town in Ireland appears to have a "Pikeman" and Midleton is no exception.

In May 2019 I could not find this statue by John Twomey, even though there was a plaque, so I decided that I must have been confused or visited the wrong location.

A few weeks ago I discovered that the statue had been removed for repair as it had been vandalised not long before my visit to the town of Midleton. Apparently the scroll had been stolen. I was a bit surprised by the fact that I had used a Sony FE 28-135 F4 Cine-Lens when I visited Midleton in 2016.

I decided to review my catalogue of photographs and discovered that I had photographed the installation in July 2016.
