The Duck pond in the Castle Park is a wildfowl sanctuary for Ducks, little Grebe, Waterhens, Coots and the occasional Swan. Th duck pond trail is a 0.2 mile (431-step) route with an elevation gain of about 0 ft and is rated as easy.

THE POND AT KILKENNY CASTLEYET ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES

TThis visit I noticed that the water was covered with a carpet of green and when I examined my photographs from 2021 it was much the same. After some research I discovered that there is an environmental problem as an invasive species of plant is hindering efforts to maintain the duck pond in Kilkenny’s Castle Park.
